Lefkada
Lefkada is one of the most charming destinations in Greece. With a remarkable and unique architectural infrastructure combined with traditional taverns and restaurants, shopping venues and archeological sites which are truly worth visiting. The award-winning beaches of Porto Katsiki, Egremnoi, Kathisma and Agios Ioannis, are among the best in the Mediterranean, and the surrounding islets such as Meganisi, Madouri and Kalamos, also hide a special beauty and allure, looking like lush green strips of land nestled in the deep blue sea. The mountainous Lefkada offers similarly amazing thrills and locations, with its monastic ruins, forested ravines, natural waterfalls and its traditional villages, which are all points of a unique experience.
Nidri & Perigiali
Nidri is a charming and worldly village located on the east side of Lefkada, built on a lush green plain along the coast. After Aristotle Onassis’ purchase of the island Scorpion in 1963, the village has blossomed to a popular bustling area, which combines the natural beauty of the Greek island, and the cosmopolitan feel that both tourists and locals may enjoy. The tourist infrastructure in Nydri is excellent with many restaurants and taverns, shops and vivid night life.
Nidri is a village suitable for both family vacations and for nature lovers ready to explore the quintessential beauty of the region. A small 2 km hike within the wonderful plain of olives and plane trees will lead you to the Demosari Waterfalls. The view of the crystal-clear blue waters, the naturally formed pond and the opportunity to cool yourself from the summer heat with a refreshing swim, will surely take your breath away.
If you’re more interested in the historical and cultural aspects of the area, across from Nydri, in the bay of Vlychos is the chapel of Agia Kyriaki. The church is accessible by boat or by a small hike. From the chapel you will have a breathtaking view of the whole of Nydri and the islet of Madouri. On your way to the chapel, on the Hill of the Nymphs, you will come across the tomb of the archaeologist Dierpfeld who claimed that Lefkada is the Homeric Ithaca.
The Nydri Beach is a spacious beach that extends from Perigiali to Nydri, with clear waters and golden sand, where you can enjoy your time in the beach bars of the area or relax on your own terms. For exploration, we recommend the small and quaint beach of Pasha, which is located just before Nydri, to the east of the city of Lefkada. From Nydri you can take a boat for a day trip to the two beaches of Skorpiou that have been made available for public swimming, the neoclassical house of Valaoritis on the islet of Madouri and the cave and beaches in Meganisi.
